Interview with Mary Garnett, a schoolteacher, concerning her experiences as a resident of Hamilton Park, Texas from 1956 to 1992. Garnett discusses her education in segregated East Texas, her graduation from Texas College, her teaching career in Malakoff, Texas, her decision to buy a home in Hamilton Park, home improvements, employment at Hamilton Park School, the desegregation of Hamilton Park School, the fight to save Hamilton Park High School, her transfer to Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas, Pacesetter, Interorganizational Council and Civic League, and the "Buy Out."
